Experienced Couples Therapist Providing Online Marriage Counselling
I have been working with couples since 2007, helping partners understand their relationship patterns, work through recurring conflicts, and build stronger relationships.
My interest in couples therapy began during my graduate studies at the University of Guelph in 2006, where I trained in couple and family therapy. With an undergraduate degree in psychology from York University, I continued to deepen my understanding of relationships through further study, teaching psychotherapy courses, and working with couples in a variety of clinical settings.
Over the years, I have combined private practice with clinical leadership roles, including serving as Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director at Addiction Services Ontario. By 2018, I had transitioned to full-time private practice, focusing on couples therapy and relationship issues.
Since 2020, I have specialized in providing online marriage counselling and couples therapy, making professional support accessible to couples wherever they live in Ontario. Through experience, I have developed ways to make online sessions engaging, practical, and effective. I use screen sharing, simple visual explanations, and flexible ways of facilitating conversations to help couples understand their relationship dynamics and work through difficult issues.
My goal is to help couples move beyond the same recurring arguments, understand what keeps them stuck, and make meaningful changes in their relationship.
To help couples communicate effectively I use a very simple traffic light analogy
The Green Zone
I believe that almost everyone is a good communicator in the green zone. It is something that is relatively simple and non-controversial. The two of you are pretty much in agreement. There is no way that this conversation is going to take you into the red zone. (Unless you have some strong feelings about milk.)
The Yellow Zone
A Yellow zone conversation is a different story. There is a disagreement between the two of you. However, you are discussing it more or less calmly. It is a dialogue about the issue rather than a fight. I help couples become better at this type of dialogue and to reduce blame and tension. Partners themselves don’t always get this one right.
The Red Zone
Both partners may escalate, and it becomes an argument or even a dog fight. Sometimes one partner lectures or nags while the other one is quiet. Both may shut down eventually – silent treatment or cold shoulder. How could this have been avoided?

Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
As a psychotherapist with 20 years of experience in couples and marriage counselling and 7 years of experience in online marriage counselling and couples therapy, communication is the most frequent problem I see in relationships.
More than 90% of the couples who end up sitting on my couch have this as a central underlying issue in their relationship.
After years of seeing the same pattern, I came up with the traffic light analogy in communication to help couples discover the power of intentional communication so they can learn how to cultivate a thriving relationship, even in challenging moments. I also created the “The Yellow Zone” webinar that covers all phases of the communication traffic light, from the stable green to high energy red.
